The Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust is pleased to announce that it is searching for two new trustees to join the Trust Board. We are looking for one full Trustee who will serve a 3-year term, as well as one Emerging Leader Trustee who will serve a 1-year term.

Our objective is to consistently bring a fresh and diverse perspective to our Board and its efforts on behalf of penguin, plants and people. Additionally, for the Emerging Leader position, we aim to inspire and guide the next general of leaders within our community. We are dedicated to providing training, orientation, and support to ensure the success of the selected Trustee throughout their term.

  2. Submit your Application Form, resume, and a cover letter to generalmanager@yeptrust.org.nz by Friday 28 July
  3. Email generalmanager@yeptrust.org.nz or call the Office on 03 479 0011 for more information.
  4. Interview—top candidate(s) will be contacted for an interview with staff and current trustee.

Eligibility:

For the term of the Emerging Leader, applicants must be 18 – 25 years old on 01 August 2023  Prospective candidates must be committed to the mission and goals of the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust.

Preparing to apply:

We expect the new Trustee appointments to be a competitive application process. Before applying, it is recommended that you familiarise yourself with the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust and review Information for New Trustees.  Additional information is available through our website and Facebook.

Commitment:

Trust Boards provide serious and necessary oversight and support to their organisations, and trustees have legal obligations to help fulfill these duties.

Full Trustees are appointed for a 3-year term with the right of rollover should you be re-elected. An Emerging Leader Trustee is appointed to serve a 1-year term as a full voting member on the Trust. The Emerging Leader is expected to fulfill the duties of a regular Trustee (see Information for New Trustees for these details).

Staff and Trustees are committed to supporting the positive development of leadership skills and knowledge in all new Trustees.  For Emerging Leader Trustees, additional training, meeting, and mentoring will be offered to ensure the Emerging Leader is prepared and supported for a successful term of service.
