The Trust provides information to the public on penguin conservation, and advocates for its ongoing protection.

Advocacy

Informal

  • Involvement with schools, groups and school holiday programmes
  • Production of two newsletters each year

  • Liaison with organizations which have similar goals

Formal

  • Presentation of submissions to both national and local government
  • Monitoring of resource consents, national and regional plans
  • Involvement with Conservation Services Levy (Fisheries)
  • Part of the wider Yellow-eyed Penguin Consultative Group and the Yellow-eyed Penguin Recovery Group – both administered by Department of Conservation – and open to all involved with yellow-eyed penguins, including tour operators, scientists, landowners and conservationists.
