In early February, photographer Murdo Macleod from The Guardian, visited Dunedin to document the ongoing work to protect the endangered yellow-eyed penguin / hoiho.

Murdo spent time with Trust Field Manager David McFarlane and Nursery Supervisor Louise Ashton, along with researchers from University of Otago, vet and rehab teams from Wildlife Hospital Dunedin and Penguin Place Conservation Reserve.

Take a browse through Murdo’s photo essay and read about what is happening to save hoiho.
